Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, Uttar Pradesh is making significant strides in providing employment to vulnerable groups through the MGNREGA scheme.

The Rural Development Department is offering jobs to the underprivileged, labourers, women and the differently-abled (divyangjans), fostering a self-reliant society.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath firmly believes that true development is achieved when the needs of the weakest sections of society are addressed, and they are empowered to claim their rightful opportunities.

Under his leadership, the MGNREGA scheme has been implemented to enable divyangjans to achieve self-reliance. This initiative represents a pivotal step toward the holistic development of the state and the establishment of equal opportunities for all.

The MGNREGA scheme ensures that divyangjans receive employment aligned with their qualifications, skills and capabilities. Chief Minister Yogi is steadfast in his efforts to guarantee equal livelihood rights for this segment of society. Since 2017-18, over 1.24 lakh divyangjans have been employed under this scheme, strengthening their livelihoods and generating 44.64 lakh man-days of work.

According to the Rural Development Department, the MGNREGA scheme provides 100 days of employment to workers in need, based on demand. Divyangjans are assigned work tailored to their abilities and requirements, ensuring inclusivity and dignity. Beyond employment, this initiative is fostering social justice and equality, contributing to a more inclusive and empowered Uttar Pradesh.

The financial year 2024-25 has witnessed remarkable progress in providing employment opportunities for divyangjans. Out of 50,201 registered Divyang job Card holders, 23,262 have secured employment under the MGNREGA scheme, generating an impressive 8.28 lakh man-days.

Comparing previous years’ data highlights this achievement. As many as 11,332 divyangjans were employed in 2017-18, followed by 10,993 in 2018-19, 10,699 in 2019-20, 17,400 in 2020-21, 14,065 in 2021-22, 13,948 in 2022-23, and 22,630 in 2023-24. This year, the number has already reached 23,262, showcasing consistent growth.

The government has leveraged digital technology to enhance transparency in the MGNREGA scheme. Processes such as registration, job card distribution and work allocation are now streamlined on a digital platform, ensuring quick and efficient service delivery.

Divyangjans are assigned tasks suited to their physical abilities, ensuring they can perform the work comfortably. This initiative not only secures their livelihood but also empowers them to live with dignity and self-respect within society.

The MGNREGA scheme in Uttar Pradesh has become a vital tool for generating employment for all those in need, including divyangjans. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the scheme is playing a crucial role in fostering self-reliance across all sections of society.
