A Mega Women Health Camp and Drishti Suraksha Abhiyan was successfully organized on January 4, Saturday from 9 am in the old Sadar Hospital premises under the joint aegis of Women Doctors Wing I.M.A. Jharkhand, National Health Mission, Jharkhand and District Administration, Pakur . The chief guest of the event was MLA, Maheshpur, Stephen Marandi. The camp was inaugurated by lighting the lamp jointly by DC Manish Kumar, SP Prabhat Kumar, Former National Co-President, Women Doctors Wing, IMA, State President, Women Doctors Wing, IMA Jharkhand Dr. Bharti Kashyap, District Council President Julie Khistmani Hembram, Deputy Development Commissioner Mahesh Kumar Santhalia, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mantu Kumar Tekriwal and others.
It is to be noted that in 2024, eye camps and mega health mega women health campaign camps focused on PVTG (Particular Vulnerable Tribal Group) are being organized in the remote Naxal-affected areas of Santhal Pargana and Kolhan. It was organized in Gua on July 1, Goilkera on July 15, Tonto on December 21 and now, it was organized in Pakur on January 4 and will be organized in Sahibganj on January 5.
In the camp festival, cervical cancer screening, eye screening, malaria and filariasis screening, HIV and syphilis screening, kala-azar screening, high blood pressure screening, TB screening, sickle cell screening, diabetes screening, prenatal screening, senior citizen screening, hemoglobin screening, vaccination, family planning related advice was given. Free medicines were also distributed.
DC, Pakur, Manish Kumar, welcomed the entire team of Health Department Pakur. He said that the performance of the district in the Pulse Polio campaign was commendable. Under the National Child Health Program, camps have been set up in all the schools. 30 thousand children were examined through the camp.
He said that with the help of awareness we can avoid fatal diseases like cervical cancer. He said that with awareness most of the diseases can be avoided. The DC said that our district is in great need of health. All the public representatives have always discussed education and health. Many women lose their lives due to cervical cancer. Many women lose their lives due to lack of awareness.
SP, Prabhat Kumar said that if your health is good then everything is good for you. Health is wealth, all of you must take care of your health. Do exercise daily, keep getting regular body checkups done. He said that 1 lakh 70 thousand deaths occur in road accidents every year. He appealed that if you drive a bike, then definitely wear a helmet and if you drive a four wheeler, then definitely use a seat belt. He also appealed to the people that better treatment is being provided in the government hospital too, you all must take advantage of it.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Mantu Kumar Tekriwal said that there are a lot of patients of cervical inflammation in the village and small children also have cataract and many other types of blindness, it is very important to make them aware.
Dr. Bharti Kashyap, who was awarded Nari Shakti Samman by the President, said that the local people deprived of health facilities, 12600 PVTG families settled here, small children losing vision, such people are our priority because they cannot reach us, we have to reach them and this is the purpose of such camps. We have already organized such health campaigns in Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Barhet, Rajmahal, Sahibganj of the institute pargana. By creating the Jharkhand model, we have screened and treated about 470000 women of reproductive capacity so far who had symptoms of genital inflammation or who were in the high risk category.
Under the Vision for Jharkhand campaign, over 20 lakh children of government schools have been screened, thousands of children have been given free spectacles and hundreds of children have been sent back to school after undergoing free cataract surgery.
