South Delhi BJP MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri on Monday challenged AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal for a debate on the issue of development in rural Delhi, stating that the former Chief Minister and his party have betrayed Delhi Dehat (rural) area and are constantly lying.
Claiming that he will leave politics if Kejriwal proves that his allegations are true, he said, “Kejriwal accusing the central government is a situation of 'the thief scolding the police'. Kejriwal did not do any work in the interest of Delhi rural and farmers. Even the promises he made, he did not fulfil them. “
He said that the proposal to regularize the expanding population of Delhi rural was passed by the Sheila Dikshit government in 2013 and the notification was also issued. “The RWAs of the villages were asked to submit their layout plans. Hundreds of layout plans were submitted to the Delhi government but in the meantime Kejriwal's party came to power and till date that decision has not been implemented,” Bidhuri added.
He said that Kejriwal as well as the current Chief Minister Atishi had promised that the house tax of Delhi rural areas would be waived off but it was not done. “The farmers whose land was acquired were given alternative residential plots but the Kejriwal government stopped this scheme. Similarly, the mutation of the names of the heirs of the farmers was also stopped which has been started by the Lieutenant Governor recently after the request of BJP MPs,” the senior BJP leader said.
Bidhuri reminded that Kejriwal had said that Delhi farmers will be given 50 per cent more MSP on their crops but he did not fulfil this promise either. “Farmers were promised free electricity for irrigation but commercial rates of electricity are being charged from them. The Delhi government had to give ownership rights to the landless farmers who were given land under the 20-point program but this government kept suppressing that decision too,” he said, adding that the AAP government did not fulfil its promise of giving subsidy to farmers on agricultural equipment and even essential equipment like tractors were declared commercial.
“The decision to abolish Section 81-A and 33-A could also have been taken at the level of the Delhi government but the Delhi government did not implement it either. <
Since the decision to declare villages as urbanized was not taken, these sections remained in force and due to this reason the GDA policy and land pooling policy could not be implemented,” he stated.
Bidhuri said that Kejriwal and his party have not only treated the rural areas of Delhi step-motherly but also have not allowed the public welfare schemes announced for farmers by the government of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to be implemented.
