As per the fresh electoral rolls for the district released on Monday, there are a total of 168 transgender voters in the state capital. The inclusion underscores the growing representation and participation of the third gender in the democratic process.
The total voter count in Bhopal stands at an impressive 2,118,364, comprising 1,086,676 male voters, 1,031,520 female voters, and 168 transgender voters.
Among constituencies, Bhopal (Madhya) leads in transgender voter count with 106, reflecting proactive registration efforts. In contrast, the Berasia assembly segment records the lowest transgender voter count at just four individuals.
Female representation across Bhopal shows a gender ratio of 950 females per 1,000 males. Bhopal-North boasts the highest gender ratio at 992 females per 1,000 males, showing near parity.
The Narela constituency, however, registers the lowest gender ratio at 937 females per 1,000 males. Despite this, it holds the second-highest total voter count in the district, reflecting significant participation.
The Govindpura assembly seat leads in overall voter count with 399,835 registered voters. Meanwhile, the Bhopal (South West) segment records the lowest total voter count at 233,236, highlighting variations in constituency sizes.
Polling stations in Bhopal total 2,029, ensuring accessibility. Govindpura has the highest number with 363 stations, while Bhopal (North) features the fewest at 232 stations.
Voters aged 80 and above total 28,901, reflecting the active participation of the aging electorate. Govindpura again leads this category with 6,252 senior voters, while Bhopal (South West) has the lowest count at 3,082.
The district’s Elector-to-Population (EP) ratio averages 69.15%. Govindpura tops the chart with a 76.30% EP ratio, indicating efficient voter registration processes in this constituency.
Conversely, Bhopal (Madhya) shows the lowest EP ratio at 59.52%, suggesting scope for improved voter outreach and registration initiatives in this area.
Service voters, including armed forces personnel, total 1,557 in Bhopal. Govindpura leads with 421 service voters, while Bhopal (North) records the lowest at 129 voters.
Persons with Disabilities (PWD) voters total 9,337 across the district. Berasia has the highest count with 2,558 PWD voters, underscoring accessibility efforts. Bhopal (South West) records the lowest with 732 PWD voters.
Gender disparities in voter participation emerge in some constituencies. For instance, the Narela constituency has the second-highest voter count but the lowest gender ratio, signalling a need for gender-specific voter drives.
Inclusivity efforts for transgender voters reflect progress. Bhopal (Madhya) leading in transgender voter count indicates successful outreach, but Berasia’s (149) low numbers highlight areas requiring focused initiatives.
The Electoral Department’s 2025 publication highlights both achievements and areas for growth in voter inclusivity, accessibility, and participation. These efforts contribute to a stronger democratic foundation in Bhopal.
