With Jharkhand’s incomparable contribution in the field of sports, the State has got the hosting rights of four national level sports competitions which will take place in January 2025 at the Mega Sports Complex, Khelgaon, Ranchi.

The SGFI competitions that the State has been given the hosting rights for include Under 19 and Under 14 Boys and Girls Athletics, Under 19 Boys and Girls Tennis, Under 14, Under 17 and Under 19 Boys and Girls Track Cycling and Under 19 Boys and Girls Hockey Competition.

Under 19 Athletics will be held from January 5 to January 8 while Under 14 Athletics Competition will be conducted from January 11 to January 14. Tennis Competition will be held from January 17 to January 19, track cycling will be held from January 17 to January 20 and Hockey Competition will be held from January 23 to January 27.

As many as 45 teams from various states and associations of the country will be participating in the above competitions. The School Education and Literacy Department of the State Government has started preparations for hosting the SGFI National School Sports Competition.

Initially, some SGFI competitions were to be held in November and December 2024 but in view of the assembly elections in Jharkhand, the SGFI competitions were postponed. As the model code of conduct was applicable in the state, it was decided to postpone the hosting given to Jharkhand. After the completion of the elections, the hosting of the sports event has been handed over to Jharkhand by the SGFI with new dates.
