Ranchi Police arrest five persons for setting fire at SIPL site

Five criminals who attacked the SIPL site in McCluskieganj, Ranchi and set fire to a container have been arrested.

The names of the accused are Ravi Munda, Mahesh Oraon, Rupesh Pahan, Dinesh Oraon and Aneesh Kerketta. Police recovered a pistol, a country-made pistol, six rounds of bullets and other items from them. SSP Chandan Sinha gave this information in a press conference on Saturday.

Sinha also said that the arrested criminals admitted before the police that extortion of Rs 2 lakh was demanded from the contractor after which it was decided to pay Rs 20,000 as extortion. The contractor did not give us that money either. Due to which the man got angry and carried out the incident. Many other criminals are involved in this incident for whose arrest the police is conducting raids,” he added.

The SSP said that the armed criminals opened fire and set a container on fire at the site of SIPL, a company laying optical fiber for BSNL, at Karam Kocha in Dulli of McCluskieganj police station area on May 28 late night. “During this, the laborer hiding in the container was burnt alive out of fear. He was identified as Sanjay Bhuiyan (25), a resident of Chhallidohar village in Madanpur, Aurangabad district of Bihar. HDD machine, DG tracker and other items worth crores kept inside the container were burnt in the arson. After the incident, the criminals left the place shouting slogans,” he added.

Meanwhile, a gang running online gambling has been busted. On the instructions of Ranchi SSP, Chandan Sinha, the police team took action and arrested eight people including the mastermind. Those arrested include mastermind Deepak Tandon, Shubham Kumar, Vinay Kumar, Niraj Kumar Rajwar, Vikash Kumar, Sagar Kumar and Aditya Kumar. An illegal pistol and ATM cards of 13 different people were recovered. Mastermind Deepak Tandon was arrested near Morhabadi ground, on his information the rest of the people were arrested from different places. The SSP gave this information in a press conference on Saturday.
