ALLEN Global Studies Division has eight students studying at the world-renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) 2022*. To learn about their experiences, ALLEN Global Studies Division's Managing Director, Aman Maheshwari Sir, visited MIT and spoke with alumni Stuti Khandwala, Ishank Agrawal, Abhay N. Bestrapalli, Dhyey S Gandhi, Mudita Goyal, Akshay Gupta, Lay Jain, and Siddhant Mukherjee.
The session was held at the iconic MIT Dome and provided an opportunity for students to share their perspectives on MIT, their personal and professional growth, and how ALLEN Global Studies Division helped prepare them for studying abroad. Here are some highlights from the discussion:
When asked about life at MIT, the students shared that it was a holistic experience that combined academics with a diverse range of extracurricular activities. They noted that research is a key component of MIT; particularly for those pursuing a PhD, and that the university offers a unique opportunity to study a wide range of disciplines.
Regarding the mix of students in their groups and classes, the alumni emphasized the diverse backgrounds and perspectives that students bring to MIT. They explained that this diversity creates a rich learning environment that allows them to exchange ideas and learn from one another.
The alumni also discussed how they managed their parents' concerns about studying abroad, noting that regular video calls helped keep their parents informed and confident. They also praised MIT's support in navigating the immigration and documentation process.
When asked for advice for students dreaming of attending MIT, the alumni stressed the importance of passion and the unique opportunities that MIT offers for research and combining different fields of study.
Finally, the alumni shared how ALLEN Global Studies Division helped prepare them for studying abroad. They praised the division's guidance on college essays, extracurricular activities, and exam preparation (TOEFL, IELTS, SAT and AP’s), as well as its 360-degree practical approach to learning about global universities.
Overall, the discussion highlighted the value of studying abroad and the benefits of attending a top-ranked institution like MIT.
