Punjab Govt offices to function from 07:30 am to 2 pm from May 2
Chandigarh: To reduce power consumption during peak summer and to ensure better coordination and control among its offices, Punjab Government has changed the timings for all its offices situated in Punjab and Chandigarh. Starting from May 2, 2023, all government offices will open at 07:30 am and close at 2 pm. The timing will be applicable until July 15, 2023. The new timings will be implemented uniformly for all offices, including field offices, Civil Secretariat, and other head offices. The early morning opening of offices is expected to substantially reduce power consumption during peak summer when the demand for electricity is highest.
Suggestions sought from NGOs for Women Empowerment Policy
Chandigarh: Punjab State Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur on Thursday appealed to the NGOs, working in the field of women empowerment in the state, to provide suggestions for the policy on women's empowerment. The Minister said that a new policy is being developed to ensure the proper design and implementation of plans and programs being carried out by the Government for women in the state. Organizations, NGOs, and individuals working towards the welfare of women can send their suggestions to — dsswcd@punjab.gov.in, srewpunjab@gmail.com, and office Directorate of Social Security and Women and Child Development Department until April 30, 2023.
Punjab to sync job portal with Tech Edu and Industries depts
Chandigarh: Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Aman Arora on Thursday directed the Department to sync the job portal — https://www.pgrkam.com/ with Technical Education and Industrial Training and Industries Departments’ portals to ensure the availability of skilled manpower data from these departments directly on the job portal. Arora, chairing a review meeting with senior officers of stakeholder departments at Punjab Bhawan, said that this move will help in real time updation of skilled workforce data on this platform which is being highly used by various industrial houses to feed their human resources requirements.
Punjab Speaker inaugurates 33 new short-term courses at Pbi University’s Mohali center
Chandigarh: Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Thursday inaugurated 33 new short-term courses at Punjabi University’s Centre at SAS Nagar (Mohali). The courses have been started in collaboration with Sabudh Foundation. Notably, this center has been renamed as 'Punjabi University Center for Emerging and Innovative Technology, Mohali'. In this direction, new courses related to artificial intelligence (AI) and data science have been started.
Chairman of National Commission for Safaikarmacharis holds review meeting at MCC

Venkatesan, Chairman of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis, reviewed the guidelines and schemes for saraikarmacharis are being followed properly and other issues related to them along with implementation of "The Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013" here on Thursday. The Chairman held a meeting with senior officers of the Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation, including Anindita Mitra, Commissioner, Vinay Partap Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Kanwardeep Kaur, SSP, amongst others.
