A 34-year-old man, who was arrested by the police  in connection with his wife’s murder and chopping her body and discarding the parts in Gurugram, reportedly disclosed before the police that he killed the woman over an extramarital affair.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Jitender, a resident of Gandhi Nagar, who was living on rent in Manesar. Earlier, he was working as a cook in the Navy and retired last year. The wife has been identified as 28-year-old Sonia Sharma. The couple had an 8-year-old daughter.

During questioning the accused revealed to the police that he had an extra-marital affair with Bihar based woman whom he met on a train later and secretly got married to her. He had a son from his second marriage.

“The accused’s wife came to know about his extramarital relations and because of this there was a dispute between them and to get rid of the situation, he decided to kill his wife, Sonia.

“The accused first strangled her to death and later cut her body into pieces with the help of a knife and packed them in polythene bags. He decided to dispose of the body parts in different places in Gurugram so that the body couldn’t be identified. He tried to dispose of the torso in a room built in the fields of Kukdola village in Manesar area on April 21,” Vijay Pratap Singh, DCP (crime) said.

The accused disposed of other body parts in Manesar’s forest area, Kherki-Daula, and the head in a pond nearby KMP road. The head of the body has been recovered by the Police in the presence of the Executive Magistrate on his disclosure on April 23. The hands of the body are yet to be recovered, he said.

The police also recovered a Motorcycle, the clothes of the deceased, a knife, a trolly bag, and a backpack used in the crime.During the search of the room in which the torso was found, the police team found a polythene bag with the name of a Vishakhapatnam-based company. On inquiry, a vendor of the company informed the police that they supply that type of polythene bag to the Indian Navy only and it is very expensive.

The incident came to light after a villager, Umed Singh, alerted the police about the half-burnt torso after smoke was emanating from the room built on his farm.
