Emphasising that Shardiya Navratri is a festival that upholds the dignity of women, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended his heartfelt wishes to the people of the state on the auspicious occasions of ‘Maha Navami’ and Vijayadashami.

Addressing the media after the ‘kanya puja’ on Maha Navami in the Gorakhnath temple, the chief minister said, “Sanatan dharma has always placed great emphasis on respect, protection and empowerment of ‘Matri Shakti’ (mother power).”

He mentioned that throughout Navratri, the worship and rituals dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga were conducted with deep devotion, joy and enthusiasm.

“Today, on the ninth day of Navratri, the ritual of ‘kanya puja’ is being performed in the entire state, along with worshiping the form of Maa Siddhidatri,” he said.

Chief Minister Yogi expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to perform the ‘kanya puja’, emphasising that this festival serves as a sacred means to show respect and empower women.

In alignment with this spirit, the Mission Shakti programmes in the state are effectively promoting women’s safety, dignity, and self-reliance, he pointed out.

“Both the Central and state governments have implemented various schemes to uphold the dignity of women, and numerous awareness programmes were carried out as part of the fourth phase of Mission Shakti during the nine days of Navratri,” Yogi added.

The chief minister further said, “Tomorrow, which is Tuesday, marks the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami. Vijayadashami is a festival that symbolises the triumph of religion, truth and justice. It is also a symbol of the fact that in every era and situation, Sanatan dharma has accepted the challenge against evil tendencies and paved the way for the welfare of the public and humanity.”

He went on to mention that the fervour for Vijayadashami extends beyond India, with Sanatan dharma followers worldwide participating in this grand celebration of Maryada Purushottam Lord Shri Ram’s victory over Ravana, the epitome of evil.

Ramlilas and other events are also organised on Vijayadashami.

The chief minister expressed his belief that Shardiya Navratri and Vijayadashami would instill enthusiasm, joy and happiness in the lives of all citizens. He believed that the blessings of Mother Goddess Bhagwati would inspire unity and empowerment within society, while the profound character of Lord Shri Ram would continue to motivate all citizens to follow the path of truth, religion and justice.
