Expedite implementation of ecotourism master plan in Himachal: CM
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday said the implementation of master plan on ecotourism needs to be expedited to fully realise its potential on employment and revenue generation in the state. In a statement, Sukhu said activities linked to boost ecotourism were being carried out in 72 forest rest houses and 22 eco-parks and needed to be extended to 93 other proposed sites. Sukhu said that a comprehensive master plan on ecotourism was being developed to fully realise the potential of the sector, adding that it will likely involve developing infrastructure, ensuring visitors' safety, preserving natural habitats and collaborating with local communities.
Punjab Industry Minister invites youngsters to come forward with Innovative business ideas
Chandigarh: Punjab Investment Promotion Minister Anmol Gagan Maan on Tuesday invited the state’s young entrepreneurs to come forward with their unique business ideas. The Minister, during a function organized by Innovation Mission Punjab (IMPunjab) during its flagship Accelerator Program's Demo Day, said the State has started IMPunjab as a public-private partnership to boost the startup ecosystem in the state, leading to its overall economic growth and social development. It, in turn, will open avenues for employment, which has direct impact on the levels of migration.” IMPunjab works towards discovering, mentoring, and scaling startups by eventually making them investment ready, she added.
44 candidates handpicked in joint apprenticeship placement drive with Maruti
Chandigarh: Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Department, in association with Maruti Suzuki India Limited, has organized a two-day Apprenticeship Placement Drive for the company at Multi Skill Development Centre (MSDC), Hoshiarpur; in which 44 candidates were handpicked. The Maruti-Suzuki India selected 44 ITI-passed eligible candidates for the apprenticeship of one year. They will get Rs 12,835 as a monthly stipend and the attendance reward up to Rs 4,160 by the company, besides subsidized food, uniform, and other benefits as per the Company's policy.
Punjab Govt to promote heritage, traditional sports along with modern
Mullanpur Garibdas (New Chandigarh): Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, after inaugurating the 8th Punjab State Gatka Championship at Gurudwara Ishar Prakash Ratwara Sahib on Tuesday, said that the State Government is committed to bring in a new comprehensive and effective sports policy to create a sports-friendly environment in the state and to make Punjab the number one state in sports. He said that Gatka is a martial art sport inherited from the Gurus, which has now been included in the National Games. He said that the Sports Department will provide all possible help to promote this Martial Art Sport.
Meeting convened to expedite settlement of case related to Dewan Toder Mal Haveli
Chandigarh: Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Tuesday directed the officials of the Culture, Archaeology and Museums Department to speed up the process for the early settlement of the case, currently pending in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, related to the historical haveli of Diwan Todar Mal in Fatehgarh Sahib. Sandhwan, presiding over the meeting to ensure proper upkeep and preservation of the haveli, assured the SGPC secretary Sukhwinder Singh and his legal team that besides taking action for the early resolution of the case, the State Government will file an application in the court for the preservation of the haveli in the upcoming monsoon season.
Punjab VB nabs ASI for taking Rs 10k bribe
Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Tuesday nabbed an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI/LR) Bhupinder Singh, posted at Police Station, Chatiwind (Amritsar), for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. Spokesperson said that the accused police official has been arrested on the complainant of Sarwan Singh, a resident of Gurwali village in Amritsar district, lodging a complaint at Police Station VB Range Amritsar that ASI Bhupinder Singh has demanded Rs 10,000 as a bribe to help him in getting regular bail from the High Court in the case registered against him and others under sections of 323, 379-A, 427, 452, 506, 148 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Police Station Chatiwind on February 13, 2023.
