The body of a 17-year-old girl student who was missing for the last two days was found on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway on Sunday morning.
On getting information, the relatives rushed to the spot and identified the victim. They alleged that the girl was murdered by her lover.
Reports said Anjali Singh (17), daughter of Malikhan Singh of Nagla Kanhaiya village under Saurikh police station of Kannauj, was studying in class 12 in a school in Saurikh.
On Friday, she had left home for school and parked her bicycle at a friend’s place, and was missing since then.
When she did not return home till late evening, her mother, Sugharshree, informed Malikhan Singh who along with other family members launched a hunt but did not get any clue of the girl.
On Sunday, the family learnt about the body of a girl lying crushed on the Agra- Lucknow Expressway near Kannauj. Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) security officer Manohar Singh and in-charge Inspector Jitendra Pratap Singh called the family members, who later identified the victim as their missing daughter Anjali Singh.
The family members alleged that she was kidnapped by her lover, residing in the same locality, and later killed before throwing the body on the expressway to make it look like an accident.
Senior police officers also reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. A hunt for the victim’s lover is on.
