BJP MP Prakash raises issue of Internet facilities in panchayats

State BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash on Wednesday raised the issue of strengthening internet facilities in rural areas of State. The MP asked questions relating to internet facility in Panchayats, development of waterways in Jharkhand and status of Gaushalas taken under control by Animal Welfare Board of India for the care of unclaimed cows in the state.

Responding to the questions of Prakash, Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Kapil Moreshwar Patil said that under the Digital India program, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj is implementing the e-Panchayat Mission Mode Project in all the States / Union Territories of the country. In order to provide high bandwidth capacity, expansion of mobile services in rural remote areas and broadband connectivity, the Bharat Net project is being implemented by the Department of Telecommunications in a phased manner to build a network to connect about 255,000 all Gram Panchayats in the country. So far, 1,93,531 gram panchayats have been made ready for service under the Bharat Net project in the country. Along with this, the target has been set to complete the project by 2025.

Minister of State for Panchayati Raj said that the total number of Gram Panchayats and equivalent in Jharkhand is 4345, in which the number of Onboard Gram Panchayats is 4342, Online Payment Gram Panchayat 4337, Online Payment Block Panchayat 264, Online Payment Block Panchayat 263, Onboard District Panchayat 24 and also Online Payment District Panchayats.

Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Minister Parshottam Rupala while replying to a departmental question said that the Animal Welfare Board of India has not taken any Gaushala under its control for the care of stray bovines in the state of Jharkhand.

The Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal while answering questions on waterways informed that an autonomous body under the Ministry has set up Multi Modal Terminals (MMT) on National Waterways through Government budgetary support including financial assistance from the World Bank. T), InterModal Terminal (IMT) has been constructed.

The Union Minister said that under the Jal Marg Vikas Project three MultiModal Terminals have been constructed at Varanasi, Sahibganj and Haldia. The MMT of Sahebganj is located in Jharkhand.
