Bokaro has seen a huge spurt in fresh COVID-19 cases during the past two days. The total number of active cases rushed to 385 while the death toll jumped to seven in the district, informed AK Pathak Civil Surgeon Bokaro.
In a single day surge district reported 106 new coronavirus positive cases on Friday while 73 new positive cases have been reported on Saturday night.
Pathak attributed the spurt in cases to a large number of test results sent back from laboratories late on Friday and Saturday night. “All total of 3026 samples were collected and sent for tests from RT-PCR, Truenat and for Rapid Antigen tests. All were shifted to COVID Hospital and contact tracing of all is being done,” added Civil Surgeon. Meanwhile, exercising the powers conferred under sub-section 34 (B & C) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Singh sealed the several areas under Yaduvanshnagar Chas, Siwandih,
Hotel Palace Near Bye Pass Road, Ukarid Basti, Bokaro Steel City Sector-8 / A, Sector-2 / A, Sector-4 / C, Sector-3, Jhopri Colony, Opposite Saraswati Vidya Mandir School, Sector-6 / D, Government Officers Colony and Sector-12 / F declaring the surrounding area of the infected people’s residents as a Containment Zone. Expressing concern over the spurt in Coronavirus positive cases in the district Singh said, everyone needs to be vigilant. He urged that everybody must apply a mask, follow social distance, and wash their hands with soap. The best way is that all of you stay safe in your own homes.
Singh appealed, “Support the administration in making the district free from COVID-19, follow SOP.” He said that there is no need to be afraid, but to be aware of coronavirus infection.
