Car with 'Defence' sticker stolen in Delhi

A car bearing a "Defence" sticker was stolen on Sunday afternoon, leaving Delhi Police in a tizzy with Republic Day barely two days away.

The white-coloured Hyundai Santro car, belonging to Shailender, a doctor studying at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here, was stolen from outside lodi Garden.

“We have already sounded alert and formed several teams and are trying to trace the vehicle,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Prem Nath told IANS.

The car, bearing registration number HR51T 6646, has two sensitive stickers which may be misused by anti-social elements -- one is a "Defence Services Officers' Institute" sticker and the other is an "AIIMS" sticker.

Police are taking the vehicle theft very seriously as it comes ahead of the Republic Day celebrations and the security agencies have already issued terror alert across the country.
