Wednesday, 17 June 2015 | PNS | Lucknow

Showing his resolve to improve quality of education in state-run schools Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that Government has appointed large number of teachers so that children could get good education.

“During my field visit I have seen myself as how students have grappled to read words in Hindi. They were not able to read small sentences. My Government wants to change this trend and therefore has decided to appoint teachers in large scale,” Chief Minister said during distribution of salary cheque to Shiksha Mitras in a function held here on Tuesday.

He said UP is probably the only state in Country where such a large appointments have been made in such a small time. “This shows our commitment to improve standard of education in government schools. When I took charge I was told about paucity of teachers in schools. Many suggestions were discussed but majority of them were spiked by bureaucracy. As we were committed to improve standard of education we went ahead with our resolve and appointed Shiksha Mitra.” Yadav said.

In last one year Government has appointed over 84,000 teachers in the primary schools. laws have been amended to upgrade the scale of shiksha mitras and bring them at par with primary teachers if they pass B.Ed or do graduation.

“These Shiksha Mitras could now go back to their area of posting and work honestly to kindle the light of knowledge among the students,” he said and narrated an incident when students in a primary school in Bachrawan in Rae Bareli could not recognize him and called him Rahul Gandhi.

“I do not blame these children. They are not exposed to the world outside Rae Bareli. Because that area belongs to Gandhis anybody in white khadi is Rahul Gandhi for them,” he said.

Yadav said that a canard has been spread by opposition branding Samajwadi Party as anti-english. “The fact is it is Samajwadi party that initiated a scheme to distribute laptops among the students. This is done with a vision that students could be exposed to outer world,” he said. Without naming BJP he said that the political party which criticized us for laptop distribution has announced free WiFi. “What is the use of WiFi without computer or laptop. WiFi se ghaas to nahi kaatoge na (You will not cut grass with WiFi,” he said.

Chief Minister said that UP is marching on the path of development. When other political parties are grappling to find a solution to acquire land for development we not only acquired land from farmers for construction of Agra-lucknow Expressway but also started working on it. “Other political parties could not think of metro and here Samajwadi Party Government has implemented the project in lucknow and this will come up in three for cities. This is the pace of development in UP. The way we are going days are not far when this satte will be number one in the country,” Yadav said.

Around 2600 Shiksha Mitras got their first pay cheque from CM. Some Shiksha Mitra also narrated their experiences and took a vow to improve education standard in UP.
