Five arrested for allegedly running fake paramedical college, university in UP
Five people were arrested in Etah on Saturday for allegedly operating a fake paramedical college and university and facilitating admissions through forged educational documents, police said.
The arrests were made by Marhara police following an investigation launched a few days ago, Senior Superintendent of Police Ilamaran G said.
According to police, the accused had been running a network that offered admissions to courses such as D Pharma, B Pharma and BSc Nursing and had allegedly collected money from students and their parents since 2022.
During the investigation, police recovered a desktop computer, fake cheques belonging to various colleges, 16 fake student identity cards, admission forms, fee receipts, examination answer books, forged stamps, pamphlets, letterheads and fake mark sheets, officials said.
Records containing enrolment and roll numbers, attendance details and admission information were also allegedly seized.
The arrested suspects were identified as Satendra Kumar, 36, of Mahmoodpur Nagariya; Gaurav Agarwal, 42, of Kasganj; Bhagwan Das, 59, of Dharampur; Narendra alias Pappu, 58, of Mohalla Paith; and Mohammad Sharif Qureshi, 75, of Gafur Ganj, all in the Marhara area.
SSP Ilamaran said the investigation was continuing to determine how many students were connected to the alleged racket and how much money had been collected from them.
The arrests were carried out by a team led by Marhara station house officer Yogendra Singh, police said.
