Keralam police to observe fourth Saturday as ‘Appreciation Day’ every month

Keralam police will observe the fourth Saturday of every month as 'Appreciation Day' across all districts to recognise exemplary service by personnel and valuable contributions by members of the public.

The directive was issued by Law and Order ADGP P Vijayan to all district police chiefs, with the initiative aimed at boosting the morale of police personnel and encouraging greater public participation and cooperation in policing, a statement said on Saturday.

At functions to be held at district or unit headquarters, district police chiefs have been asked to identify and honour personnel who demonstrated outstanding service, exemplary conduct, investigation skills, bravery or dedication during the previous month.

Members of the public who contributed to public safety or provided valuable assistance to the police will also be honoured.

Selected police personnel and citizens will be presented with certificates of appreciation, mementoes or other tokens of recognition, in the presence of colleagues, staff and members of the public, the statement said.

All district police chiefs have been directed to attend these events, while zonal inspectors general and range deputy inspectors general have been asked to participate wherever possible.

If the programme cannot be held on the fourth Saturday for any reason, it should be held earlier in the same month, the directive said.

Districts have been asked to maintain a record of the personnel and citizens honoured each month, along with details of their contribution, and submit a report with photographs to the Law and Order ADGP by the first of the following month, it added.
