ECI announces Rajya Sabha Bypolls for 3 West Bengal seats on July 24

The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced by-elections to three Rajya Sabha seats from West Bengal. Polling will be held on July 24, with the counting of votes scheduled to take place the same day after the polling process concludes.
According to the election schedule, the notification for the bypolls will be issued on July 7, while the last date for filing nominations is July 14. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on July 15, and candidates can withdraw their nominations until July 17. The entire election process is expected to be completed by July 29.
The bypolls have become necessary following vacancies in the Upper House caused by the resignation or vacation of seats by sitting members. Political parties are expected to finalise their candidates in the coming days as they prepare for the electoral contest.
With the composition of the Rajya Sabha at stake, the elections are being closely watched in West Bengal, where the outcome could influence party representation in the Upper House of Parliament. The Election Commission has directed all stakeholders to adhere strictly to the Model Code of Conduct and election rules during the bypoll process.
The announcement comes amid a series of electoral activities across the country, with the ECI also conducting Assembly bypolls in other states later this month.
