Officials of the Wushu Association of India, along with international medal-winning Wushu players from the Army and their coaches, met Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, to discuss the development of Wushu in the Army at the residence of the Minister in New Delhi on Tuesday. During this meeting, an in-depth discussion was held on the growth and promotion of Wushu within the armed forces.
On this occasion, the minister warmly welcomed the international medal-winning Wushu players and honored them with shawls to celebrate their achievements for the country.
Present at the event were Suhel Ahmed, Shivendra Nath Dubey, and Uday Sahu from the Wushu Association of India; Group Captain M.L.S. Prasad, Joint Secretary of the Services Sports Control Board; Wushu players Sergeant Kushal Kumar, Havildar Vikrant Balyan, Havildar Rajat Charak, Sepoy M. Suraj Singh, Sergeant H. Karanjit Singh; and Army Wushu coaches Naib Subedar Amit Paul, Junior Warrant Officer Santosh Kumar, and Lance Havildar Chirag Sharma.
Group Captain Prasad provided the Minister with a detailed account of the achievements of the Services Sports Control Board’s Wushu players.
On this occasion, the minister was felicitated with a memento by the Wushu Association of India.
Suhel Ahmed requested the establishment of new Centers of Excellence and nodes for Wushu, along with enhanced facilities for Taolu medal-winning players.
Shivendra Nath Dubey proposed the initiation of an Army node in Jharkhand to open new opportunities for Wushu players in the state.
