Delhi Police has arrested 31 proclaimed offenders, six parole jumpers and 73 individuals under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act under its 'Operation Crackdown’ conducted in the southwest district of the national Capital from December 1 to 15.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Surendra Choudhary said, “During the period from December 1, 2024, to December 15, 2024, the South-West District Police made significant progress in various law enforcement areas. A total of six parole jumpers were apprehended, and 31 persons on parole were arrested. Additionally, 13 absent BCs (Bail Cancellations) were traced and arrested.”
He added that in matters related to the Excise Act, the district reported 63 cases, resulting in the arrest of 63 individuals. “A total of 20,832 quarters of illicit liquor and 264 beers were recovered, alongside six vehicles used in the transportation of these illicit goods,” he added.
Another senior police officer said that similarly, the district also dealt with 73 cases under the NDPS Act, leading to the arrest of 73 individuals. “The South-West District also made noteworthy progress in tackling various types of crime. Four individuals were arrested in connection with snatching incidents, with the recovery of two mobile phones, two purses, two Aadhaar cards, and one desi katta,” he said.
The officer stated that in robbery-related cases, seven individuals were arrested, with recoveries including a mobile phone, a purse containing a PAN card, a country-made revolver with a live cartridge, a buttoned-activated knife, and a black purse containing Rs 1,900. “Additionally, seven individuals were arrested for auto-lifting, with recoveries of four motorcycles and one scooter. In burglary cases, the police arrested seven individuals and recovered a range of stolen items, including one almirah, one fridge, three LPG cylinders, one microwave oven, a computer printer, and various electronics like a Lenovo laptop, an iPad, earphones, two wristwatches, a 20-gram silver coin, a Bluetooth speaker, a silver chain, a gold chain, a silver katori, and a silver spoon,” the DCP stated, adding that furthermore, Rs 6,290 in cash was also recovered.
Choudhary stated that in gambling-related activities, 97 individuals were arrested with stake money amounting to Rs 1,65,640, along with satta parchi. “The district also made significant strides in enforcing the Arms Act, arresting 46 individuals and seizing 22 firearms, including one USA-made pistol, 21 country-made pistols, 30 live cartridges, and 24 knives,” he said.
The DCP said that the district also successfully traced and reunited 10 missing minor children with their families. “Under the Immoral Traffic Prevention (ITP) Act, five girls were rescued from Munirka Village in Kishangarh, Delhi, and one broker was apprehended. Additionally, a decoy operation led to the recovery of ?2,000, which was handed over by a decoy customer involved in an illegal transaction,” he stated.
