BJP gives ultimatum to AAP on tabling CAG reports

Wednesday, 18 December 2024 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

The Delhi BJP on Tuesday gave a 48-hour ultimatum to the AAP government to present the 14 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports in the state assembly, stating that ‘these reports will be the final nail in the coffin of the ruling party’.

Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta accused the Delhi government of deliberately suppressing 14 CAG reports. He alleged that the AAP government has repeatedly failed to table these reports in the assembly, despite persistent demands from the opposition and orders from the Lieutenant Governor, in an attempt to cover up its corruption and misdeeds.

Issuing an ultimatum, Gupta demanded the government convene a special session of the Delhi Assembly within 48 hours to table all 14 CAG reports. He further warned that if the government fails to do so, the BJP will approach the High Court once again to seek appropriate directions to compel the government to present the reports. "We will ensure that the government tables these reports at all costs," he asserted.

Addressing a press conference at the Delhi BJP office, Gupta remarked that the concealment and suppression of these CAG reports have exposed the government's wrongdoings. "This theft has been caught red-handed, and the government now stands completely exposed," he said, alleging that hiding the reports is a clear attempt to cover up large-scale corruption.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva also stated that statements from both the Delhi Government’s and Lieutenant Governor’s lawyers confirmed that within two to three days, they would notify the Assembly Speaker to table all 14 CAG reports in the Assembly.

“We hope that after these 14 CAG reports come to light, there will be no choice but for Atishi Marlena’s government to recommend investigations against the previous Arvind Kejriwal government,” he said, demanding that the Assembly Speaker convene a special session on Saturday solely to direct the Delhi Government to table all 14 CAG reports in the Assembly. “This special session must not have any other agenda,” he added.
