Human Rights Day Celebrated at ULC

The University Law College, Vinoba Bhave University, celebrated Human Rights Day with enthusiasm and intellectual discourse. The event, attended by faculty members, students, and distinguished guests, was an enlightening experience that highlighted the importance of human rights in modern society.Principal in charge Rashmi Pradhan set the tone for the event with a warm and insightful welcome address. She emphasized the significance of Human Rights Day, commemorating the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. Focusing on the human rights in contemporary society, she spoke about the challenges faced in ensuring their implementation. 

She underscored the role of legal professionals, educators, and students in bridging the gap between the ideals of human rights and their practical realization. She also highlighted how the University Law College is committed to fostering critical thinking, advocacy, and research in the field of human rights.She encouraged the participants to actively engage in discussions and reflect on their roles as advocates for human rights.Dr. Sadique Rajjak, the Registrar of Vinoba Bhave University, spoke about the evolving landscape of human rights in India and globally. 

He highlighted the challenges faced in ensuring equitable access to rights and justice, stressing the need for legal professionals to take proactive roles in safeguarding these principles.Shri Gaurav Khurana delivered a compelling speech on the role of the judiciary and legal aid in upholding human rights. He elaborated on the initiatives taken by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to provide access to justice for marginalized communities, encouraging students to contribute to these efforts through internships and volunteer work.Bhaiya Mukesh Kumar provided a comprehensive analysis of the historical development of human rights and their contemporary relevance. 

He discussed the interplay between human rights and socio-economic factors, urging the audience to view human rights as integral to sustainable development and social justice.Several faculty members and participants shared their insights during the interactive session.Urmila Kumari concluded the event with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the distinguished guests, faculty members, and participants for their contributions to the successful celebration of Human Rights Day.The event was an inspiring occasion that brought attention to pressing human rights issues. It reinforced the role of legal education in promoting awareness and action for human rights, leaving participants with a renewed sense of responsibility toward creating a just and equitable society.
