Three women drown to death in Mangalore

Monday, 18 November 2024 | Kumar Chellappan | Kochi

Three young women, all in their early 20s, drowned on Sunday morning in the swimming pool of a beach resort in Someshwara Uchula near Mangalore where they were staying.

The youngsters, Nishita (21), Parvathi (20) and Keerthana (21), all hailing from Mysuru, were playing in the swimming pool of the resort when tragedy struck leading to the mishap.

According to persons close to the Wa Beach Resort, where the incident occurred, one of theyoungsters drowned in the water, and when another tried to rescue her, she too drowned, leading the third woman to enter the water. This incident reportedly occurred within a matter of minutes.

The resort staff discovered the incident and raised the alarm. Visuals from the CCTV installed in the resort recorded the incident showing the young women struggling in the water. A team led by Ullal police inspector HN Balakrishna has visited the scene and is conducting an investigation.

Though the resort and

police authorities claim that it was a mishap caused by the negligence, there are instances like young

women getting killed in mysterious circumstances in Kerala  and Karnataka.

In November 2021, Anjana Shajan (first runner-up in Miss Kerala championship) and Ansi Kabeer , a

model, were killed in the wee hours of the day when the car they were travelling

crashed against a two

wheeler.

Though the police had taken into custody the owner of the star hotel where the ladies had their dinner and entertainment, nothing has been heard since then.
