Some alumni of Jamia Millia Islamia have written a letter to Vice Chancellor Najma Akhtar requesting her to postpone the decision of granting No Objection Certificate (NOC) to a person in possessio of the land for selling the university land to third person.
In a letter dated August 14 also in possession with The Pioneer, Badre Alam Mohd Areeb Hasan, Secretary Treasurer, Mohd Danish, Danish Hameed, Joint Secretary EC member of the register alumni association wrote: "The purpose of this letter is to request the postponement of the issuance of a NOC for the sale of the university's ancestral piece of land, currently in the possession of Zakia Zaheer, daughter of KG Saiyidain, bearing municipal number 267-A, Khasra number 493/143 and 496/143, Village Okhla, New Delhi."
The land in question holds profound sentimental value to the Jamia fraternity and forms an integral part of our cherished history and we the alumni of institution, are deeply committed to upholding and preserving its
cultural and historical legacy, read the letter.
In light of recent financial challenges and evolving circumstances faced by the university, we stand united in our resolve to support and contribute to the cause by ensuring that this land remains under Jamia, stated the letter.
"We are more than willing to provide any support that may be required to facilitate this process, ensuring that the land remains with
Jamia. We are committed to offering our support in returning it to Jamia it rightfully belongs to. We are awaiting your response and are available at your convenience for further discussions," read the letter.
