BLOOD DONOR DAY ORGANISED AT PPA  (Pix)
Paradip: The PPA Hospital in association with local leading social organisation Aahwan Combines observed the World Blood Donor Day as part of Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav. Chief guest PPA Chairman PL Haranadh inaugurated the programme with the theme “Give blood, give plasma, share life, share often”. Total 81 employees and other volunteers donated blood. The collected units were handed over to the State Red Cross. 

IMMT HOLDS MEET ON INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS  (Pix) 
Bhubaneswar: A week-long national e-workshop on ‘Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights’ is being organised by INTEC as part of the sensitisation activities of CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar. Arvind C Ranade, Director of Gandhinagar National Innovation Foundation, inaugurated the workshop. More than 1,500 students, faculties, researchers, scientists and industrialists are participating in the session. CSIR-IMMT Director Dr Ramanuja Narayan spoke on the importance of Intellectual Property Rights. 

KENDRAPADA HARDCORE CRIMINAL’S HOUSE RAZED  (Pix) 
Kendrapada: The Kendrapada district administration on Monday demolished the house of hardcore criminal Prashant Sahu alias Pasha that was constructed illegally on Government land. Pasha, who is a habitual offender, has several cases of murder, bombing and robbery pending against him at various police stations in the district. He is wanted in the kidnap of a criminal, Bibhu Sahu, from Bhagabanpur under the Marshaghai police station on June 1. Pasha had encroached Government land at Talasanga village under the Patakura police station and constructed a house on it. 

RS 46L GANJA SEIZED IN BALANGIR  (Pix)  
Balangir: A team of Balangir Town police station IIC Biswajit Manbodh intercepted a truck,WB14D-5961, loaded with ganja at NH-26, Sambalpur Road, on Tuesday. Total of 920 kg of ganja was seized and the value of the contraband was estimated at Rs 46 lakh. One Birendra Singh of Bihar was arrested in this connection, said Balangir SP Rishikesh Khilari. The ganja was being transported to Raipur from the Kantamal-Boudh area. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act at the Balangir Town PS and further investigation was on to nab other people involved in the incident.

VEDANTA ESTABLISHES BUTTERFLY PARK IN J’SUGUDA  (Pix) 
Jharsuguda, Odisha; 13th June 2023: Vedanta Aluminium has established a new lush Butterfly Park in its premises at Jharsuguda. The park harbours over 100 meticulously-curated selections of plant species to attract and nurture more than 30 rare and exquisite butterfly species. The park will play a pivotal role in providing a thriving ecosystem to local flora and fauna such as rare flowering plant species, birds, bees, etc. 

ELEPHANT SEPARATED FROM HERD DIES IN SAMBALPUR
Sambalpur: A male elephant that got separated from a herd of 16 jumbos died in road side in early morning on Tuesday at Basiapada under the Sadar Forest Range. "For a pretty long time, it was found abnormal moving here and there may be due to poor health conditiony," informed Sambalpur DFO Viswanath Neelannavar. The animal was 20 years old. The exact reason behind the death could be known after postmortem, the DFO said. However, villagers said scorching heat may be the reason for the death.
