Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan flagged off the trial-run of Bhopal Metro Train by flagging off from Subhash Nagar depot. The Chief Minister took stock by traveling in the Metro Train from Subhash Nagar station to Rani Kamalapati station.
Chouhan said that the commencement of Metro Train in Bhopal will bring about a new revolution in transportation in Bhopal. Bhopal Metro Train will be extended to Sehore, Mandideep as well as Raisen and Vidisha. After Indore, a new transport revolution is taking place in Bhopal.
Madhya Pradesh was known for potholes on roads, a metro trial run has taken place in two cities each in a week’s time. We have achieved this in a short time ahead of the deadline. This is the result of hard work of the Metro Train Corporation's team members, engineers and workers. The five kilometer long metro section from Subhash Nagar to Rani Kamalapati station has 5 stations, the infrastructure work of which was completed very quickly despite constraints. The laying of nine kilometers of track was completed in five months. The traction third Train running along the tracks and 7 turnouts were also electrified in just 90 days and 5 lifts and 4 escalators were installed in just 60 days, which is an achievement in itself.
Chouhan said that metro train will save time and money. The people of Bhopal will have access to safe, easy, convenient, cheap and beautiful means of transportation, and the pollution in the city will also reduce. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, metro coaches include smart lighting, air conditions, smart display, AI CCTV, cameras etc.
The total length of Bhopal Metro project worth about Rs 6 thousand 941 crore will be 31 kilometers, this train will run on 16.77 kilometers from Karond intersection to AIIMS, 14.18 kilometers from Ratnagiri intersection to Bhadbhada intersection. In the first phase, metro train will operate on 7 kilometer long route till Subhash Nagar AIIMS. Complete operation will start from 2024. Metro Train stations will also be special. They will have facilities like lift and escalator etc., special arrangements for the elderly and online ticketing facility. Cyclists, two-wheelers and car owners will all give top priority to this convenient, air-conditioned and time-saving mode of transport.
Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang, Bhopal Mayor Smt. Malti Rai, MLA Rameshwar Sharma, Krishna Gaur, Vishnu Khatri, former Mayor Alok Sharma, former MLA Dhruv Narayan Singh, Principal Secretary Urban Development and Housing Neeraj Mandloi, Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Metro Train Corporation Limited, Manish Singh and other public representatives were present.
A short film focusing on the construction of Bhopal Metro, its facilities and security provisions was also screened in the programme. Principal Secretary Neeraj Mandloi presented a replica of the metro train to Chouhan as a souvenir.
The Chief Minister came from Subhash Nagar depot to Rani Kamalapati station by metro Train. Public representatives, youth and officials accompanied him. Chouhan inspected the surrounding area and the ongoing construction process from the Metro Train and also interacted with the co-passengers, youth and public representatives. Everyone sitting in the first trial run of Metro Train was happy and joyful. Chouhan said that Bhopal is looking more beautiful from the Metro.
Public representatives described Metro Train as an important and useful gift for Bhopal. While traveling in the first trial run of the Metro Train, the youth were full of enthusiasm and excitement, they were raising patriotic slogans.
