Himachal CM pays floral tribute on birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar

Shimla: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday paid floral tributes on the Statue of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar on his birth anniversary at Ambedkar Chowk, Shimla. He said that Dr. Ambedkar was the architect of the Constitution of India who contributed to promote social harmony and equality. He saw Education as a potent tool that could equally empower every citizen to build an egalitarian society. He worked throughout his life for the welfare and rights of the backward sections of society and the poor. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also released the calendar of Baba Saheb Ambedkar Welfare Society. The artists of the Information and Public Relations Department sang devotional songs on the occasion.

MC Chandigarh organizes Fire Service Day

Chandigarh: To mark the Fire Services Day, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh on Thursday organized a programme at Fire Station, Sector 17, Chandigarh. This year Fire Service Week will be organized from 14th to 20th April 2023 under the theme “Awareness in Fire Safety for Growth of National Infrastructure (AGNI)”.  Anup Gupta, Mayor, Anindita Mitra, Commissioner and others officers laid wreaths at the Martyrs’ Column, in Fire Station and paid homage to fire brigade jawans. A two-minute silence was also observed in memory of all those firemen in the country who lost their lives while on duty. The Mayor and Commissioner also distributed certificates and mementos to the different teams of volleyball, badminton, ladder drill and hose drills.

Invaluable contribution of Babasaheb: Hry CM

Chandigarh: Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar has played a significant role in the freedom struggle of the country and the younger generation should take inspiration from such a great personality. Chief Minister, Haryana Manohar Lal said while addressing the people during a programme organized on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Babasaheb in Palwal’s Rasulpur village. He also paid floral tributes at his statue.  Khattar said that Dr. Ambedkar was a great personality and the architect of the Constitution of India. “We should take inspiration from his life and follow his footsteps. Keeping in mind the interests and rights of all classes, he made a constitution that was recognized by more than 550 princely states of the country. He did the work of bringing forward the oppressed sections and backward people in the constitution so that everyone is benefited and mutual brotherhood and peace prevails,” he added.

Shimla: Himachal Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Friday said Himachal Pradesh, popularly known as Dev Bhoomi was blessed with immense natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. He said that people were simple and hardworking and had contributed towards the development of the state and hoped that the state would march ahead on the path of development in future also with the constructive support of people.

HP cabinet decides to fill up 530 posts of school lecturers through direct recruitment

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet on Thursday decided to fill up 530 posts of school lecturers through direct recruitment. In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the cabinet also gave its approval to fill up two posts of deputy superintendent of police through direct recruitment based on the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services Combined Competitive Examination. It decided to amend Rule 50 of the Himachal Pradesh Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Rules, 1989, revising the fee for licenses to pharma units for using opioids to manufacture medicines. The license fee was Rs 200 in 1989 which remained unchanged till date. Now, the fee has been revised to Rs 1.50 lakh. At present, there are 36 such license holders in the state, officials said adding the decision would increase the revenue of the state exchequer. The cabinet also gave its nod to amend the Himachal Pradesh Town and Country Planning Rules, 2014, to allow the attic floor habitable.

MCC celebrates Ambedkar Jayanti as the legacy of a visionary social reformer

Chandigarh: Celebrating the legacy of a visionary social reformer, Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh organized a function with door-to-door waste collectors and Safaikarmacharis at Rani Laxmi Bai Mahila Bhawan, Sector 38, here.  Anup Gupta, Mayor, Anindita Mitra, Commissioner, and other officers paid homage to Baba Saheb for his contribution in preparing the Constitution of India on his birth anniversary and remembered his great thoughts and ideology.  An award ceremony was also organized where door-to-door waste collectors and Safaikarmacharis were rewarded for their contributions and outstanding performances in their respective fields.

Punjab VB nabs ASI for taking Rs 5,000 bribe

Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Friday nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector-Local Rank (ASI/LR) Rajinder Singh, posted in police station, Hariyana of Hoshiarpur district, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000. Spokesperson said that the said police official has been arrested on the complaint of Sanjay alias Ashu, resident of Bassi Nau village in Hoshiarpur. The complainant has alleged that the ASI demanded Rs 5,000 as a bribe to submit a chargesheet in a police case registered against the complainant at the police station, Hariyana.

 

Minister distributes Rs 5L for Dharamshala, 20 computers for Dr Ambedkar Digital Library

Chandigarh: Punjab Cabinet Minister Dr Baljit Kaur on Friday distributed a cheque of Rs five lakh to Dhanak Dharamshala at Malout, besides 20 computers for the Dr Ambedkar Digital Library. The Minister also distributed books to the children for the preparation of competitive examination, besides copies and pencils to the needy students of the two schools. The Minister said that the Government is fully committed to changing the face of Punjab’s villages and there is neither lack of passion nor lack of funds to complete these tasks.
