Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company (MKVVCL) on Wednesday urged consumers to clear outstanding electricity bills by the March 31 deadline or face consequences that range from disconnections to seizure of properties.
In the midst of a ramped-up recovery drive, the company has instructed ground-level officials to take necessary action, including the issuance of C-forms under the Land Revenue Code, conducting property seizures, and freezing bank accounts of those failing to clear their dues.
Additionally, the company has also directed vigilance officers to speed up the recovery process. Night checks are being carried out to prevent illegal use of electricity by defaulters whose connections have been withheld. Violators will face legal action under Section 138 of the Electricity Act, 2003.
In a bid to bolster collections, the company is also offering rebates and incentives to both domestic and commercial consumers in its jurisdiction, spanning 16 districts of the state.
Consumers are urged to pay their dues promptly to avoid unpleasant disconnection proceedings. The company has also arranged for extended counter services on holidays to facilitate payments.
