VP to launch 12-volume collection of Malaviya’s writings

The Vice-President of India will, on December 25, release a 12-volume scholarly compendium titled “Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Sampoorna Vangmaya”, a comprehensive collection of the writings and speeches of freedom fighter, educationist and Banaras Hindu University founder Pt Madan Mohan Malaviya. The release ceremony will be held at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital.
The publication has been prepared by the Mahamana Malaviya Mission and brings together Malaviya’s writings, thoughts and public interventions in a consolidated form. The organisers said the project aims to preserve and present Malaviya’s intellectual legacy for scholars, students and the wider public.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal and BJP MP Anurag Thakur will be present at the event. A special address will be delivered by Padma Bhushan awardee Ram Bahadur Rai, a former journalist and alumnus of Banaras Hindu University, who is the chief editor of the Sampoorna Vangmaya project.
The first series of the Malaviya compendium, comprising 11 volumes, was released in 2023 at Vigyan Bhawan by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. That release had given national recognition to the long-term archival and editorial effort undertaken by the Mission. Organisers said the upcoming event will mark the culmination of further editorial work and expansion of the collection, making it one of the most exhaustive published records of Malaviya’s contributions to India’s freedom movement, education, journalism and public life.
Scholars, writers, educationists and social workers from across the country are expected to attend the ceremony. Members of the editorial board and representatives of various branches of the Mahamana Malaviya Mission will also be present.
Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, a key figure in India’s nationalist movement, is remembered for his role in promoting education, social reform and Indian values. The organisers said the new volumes seek to make his ideas accessible to a new generation of readers and researchers.
