Asha Bhosle’s last recorded song set for release on birthday

Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle’s final recorded film song is set to be released on her birth anniversary, September 8, as part of the upcoming drama-comedy “Om Ka Hari”, the makers announced on Thursday.
Titled “Ae Meri Zindagi, Tu Chupi Hai Kahan”, the song was recorded in late 2023, when Bhosle was in her 90s. It will feature in filmmaker Harish Vyas’ father-son drama, which stars Anshuman Jha, Raghubir Yadav, Soni Razdan and Ayesha Kapur.
The track is being presented as a celebration of life, love and the emotions people often leave unspoken. Its release on Bhosle’s birth anniversary is also intended to honour the extraordinary legacy of one of Indian cinema’s most iconic voices.
Bhosle, who passed away in April this year at the age of 92, enjoyed a career spanning more than seven decades. She recorded over 12,000 songs across languages and genres, with classics such as “Dum Maro Dum”, “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja”, “Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko” and “Yeh Mera Dil” becoming part of Bollywood’s musical history.
Director Harish Vyas said releasing the song on Bhosle’s birthday was a way of celebrating her “timeless voice” and the generations of listeners touched by her music.
According to the makers, “Om Ka Hari” revolves around the emotional complexities of a father-son relationship, exploring generational differences and the feelings that families often struggle to express.
For Anshuman Jha, who is also closely connected to the film’s story, having Bhosle’s voice feature in the project carries an especially personal significance. He said the film is rooted in the importance of expressing love to one’s parents, something he did not get the opportunity to tell his own father.
Jha described having Bhosle’s voice carry the song at the emotional heart of the film as one of the most profound and memorable experiences of his artistic life.
With the song’s release timed to Bhosle’s birth anniversary, “Om Ka Hari” will offer audiences a final opportunity to hear the legendary singer’s voice in a new film setting.
