15-year-old ends life in UP's Ballia after man shares her private video

A 15-year-old girl, allegedly depressed after a man circulated her private video, died by suicide here on Saturday, police said.

The girl's mother had filed a complaint against a man named Zahid (20) at Maniyar police station on Friday. Following this, a case was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology (Amendment) Act.

According to the complaint, the accused lured the minor girl after promising to marry her, recorded an obscene video of her during a video call, and later circulated the video.

The complaint stated that the minor was under severe mental distress after the video went viral.

Maniyar Station House Officer Ajay Tripathi said the girl allegedly hanged herself at her home on Saturday afternoon.

On receiving the information, police rushed to the spot and shifted to the district hospital. She was later referred to a hospital in Mau, where she succumbed during treatment.

Police said legal action is being taken in the case.
