CM Rekha launches cashless care for DJB pensioners

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday launched a cashless medical facility for over 50,000 pensioners and family pensioners of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’. The new facility will provide significant relief to retired employees who served the DJB for years and their families by easing the financial and procedural difficulties they faced during medical treatment.
Delhi Water Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, DJB vice chairman and MLA Satish Upadhyay, along with board members, senior officials and other dignitaries, were present on the occasion. The chief minister said DJB pensioners and family pensioners had devoted a significant part of their lives to serving Delhi. It was therefore the Government’s responsibility to ensure that, at this stage of their lives, they receive better healthcare facilities in an easy and dignified manner.
Earlier, whenever pensioners needed treatment for an illness, they had to pay the medical expenses out of pocket first. They then had to apply for reimbursement and go through a lengthy process, which was particularly difficult and cumbersome for elderly pensioners.
The CM said the Government understood the problem pensioners faced and worked to introduce the facility. The Government faced several hurdles and challenges in implementing the system, but overcame them and dedicated the facility to pensioners on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Singh said DJB employees and pensioners had dedicated their lives to serving Delhi. “The entire process has been made simpler and more convenient through a single-window system,” he said.
This is not merely a medical facility, but also a reflection of the respect and sense of responsibility towards employees who made a significant contribution to providing water and sewer services to households across Delhi for years,” he said.
