Mamata serves legal notice to doctors over 2021 injury report

The Mamata Banerjee “injury” controversy continued to take an uglier turn with the former Bengal Chief Minister slapping a legal notice on the doctors, including a neurologist who treated her for an alleged ankle fracture during the 2021 Assembly elections. The notice was served for revealing her personal medical report to third parties.
The development came hours after Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari accused her of faking her injuries in 2021 to win the elections by drawing sympathy votes.
Adhikari alleged that Banerjee had no serious injury that could make her wheelchair-bound. In 2021, Banerjee campaigned for more than a month in a wheelchair, accusing BJP supporters of inflicting the injury on her at Nandigram during an election campaign.
Reacting to the notice served on the doctors, Adhikari said he had all the documents and evidence ready, insisting the doctors had supplied none of the evidence to him. “I got these from other sources... So the doctors cannot be made responsible for this,” he said, adding, “the CID investigation will continue in the case as she had falsely implicated many BJP workers, faking her injury.”
