5 Cheetah cubs born in Kuno in MP

Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park recorded another major milestone under Project Cheetah with the birth of five healthy cubs to KJP21, a 32-month-old female cheetah born in India. With the new arrivals, India’s cheetah population has increased to 60, including 41 cheetahs born in India.
KJP21 is the third female cheetah born in India to give birth to cubs on Indian soil, after Mukhi and KGP12. The development marks a significant step forward in the country’s ongoing efforts to establish a self-sustaining cheetah population and expand the next generation of the species.
The birth of the five cubs is particularly significant as their father is a male cheetah brought to India from Botswana. Their arrival marks the beginning of the Botswanan lineage in India, introducing a new genetic lineage into the country’s growing cheetah population.
