Truth Wears Many Names

In a world quick to argue over whose faith, whose path, or whose interpretation of truth is correct, a verse from the Rig Veda offers a strikingly different vision. It declares, "Ekam Sat Viprah Bahudha Vadanti", Truth is one, though the wise call it by many names.

This single line acknowledges that different seekers, across centuries and cultures, have approached the same ultimate reality through different languages, symbols, and practices, not because truth itself is fragmented, but because human understanding approaches it from many directions at once.

We often mistake a different path for a wrong one, assuming that if someone worships, believes, or lives differently than we do, one of us must be mistaken. This verse suggests otherwise that diversity of expression does not mean division of truth.

Today, encounter one belief or practice different from your own with curiosity rather than judgment, remembering that it too may be reaching toward the same truth you seek.
