Meet Deepak Mhaske, the chemistry professor now heading BJP's digital wing

The BJP's digital wing has a new face at the top. Chhattisgarh based chemistry professor and election data analyst Deepak Mhaske has been named national convenor for social media, taking over from Amit Malviya, who had run the operation since 2014.
The appointment is part of a broader organisational reshuffle under newly appointed BJP national president Nitin Nabin, who has also named Roop Kumari Chaudhary as Mahila Morcha chief among other changes.
Mhaske has been associated with the BJP since 2009. He earlier headed the party's Chhattisgarh IT Cell and served as state spokesperson. He currently chairs the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Limited, a post carrying the rank of Minister of State, and previously served as an independent director on the board of Engineers India Limited from November 2021 to March 2026. He holds an MSc in Chemistry, a diploma in cement technology and a certificate course in computer programming, and worked as a college chemistry professor before moving into agriculture, horticulture, data analysis and party organisation.
Reacting to the change on X, Malviya congratulated Mhaske and the incoming team, saying the appointments came at a crucial juncture for the party. He said he had worked closely with each of them over the last decade and expressed confidence the new team would carry the party's digital communication forward with conviction, creativity and clarity. He also thanked the BJP's social media support base for staying with the party through the years.
The reshuffle comes ahead of several state elections, including Uttar Pradesh, due in 2027, with the party's digital and social media operations expected to play a central role in the run-up to the polls.
