IYC, NSUI to gherao Parliament on August 9

The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) announced on Friday that they would ‘gherao’ Parliament on August 9 as part of the party’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj (Voice of Students)’ campaign to amplify the alleged corruption in education as well as the need for reform.
These two frontal organisations of the Congress reiterated their demands, seeking the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, strict action against incidents of alleged paper leaks and the release of an annual examination calendar. Indian Youth Congress (IYC) president Uday Bhanu Chib and NSUI in-charge Kanhaiya Kumar outlined the future roadmap of the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ campaign during a press conference here.
Chib said that the ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ campaign began with a press conference, followed by engagement with students and youth through various programmes. He informed that protests and demonstrations would be held in various cities on August 1, and the ‘gherao’ of Parliament would take place on August 9 under the slogan ‘Delhi Chalo (March to Delhi)’.
