Four Taliban militants killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa operation, weapons recovered

Security forces killed four Taliban militants in an intelligence-based operation in northwest Pakistan on Monday, police said.
The operation was carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province under the government's Azm-e-Istehkam vision as part of its continuing counterterrorism efforts.
Police said the four militants, officially referred to as Fitna-al-Khawarij (Tehreek-e-Taliban), were killed in Dera Ismail Khan district after security forces tracked their movements and launched an operation against them.
A significant quantity of weapons and ammunition, along with Afghan currency, was recovered from the militants, police said.
In a separate incident in Peshawar, a police officer was seriously injured after unidentified militants attacked a police checkpost, officials said.
The attackers also used explosives to destroy a school in the Urmar area, police said.
Following the attack, police officers and a large security contingent reached the spot and launched an operation in the area.
Security was subsequently tightened across the area and personnel were placed on high alert as a precaution against any further threat. (with inputs from PTI)
