Woman head constable dies after being pushed while stopping hospital clash in Tamil Nadu

A 35-year-old woman head constable died after allegedly being pushed to the ground while trying to intervene in a clash between two groups at the government general hospital here, police said on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Kannaki, 35, who was attached to Parthibanur police station in Ramanathapuram district and deployed at the Paramakudi government hospital.
Police said some youths injured in a brawl arrived at the hospital late on Monday night for treatment. The two groups later got into another fight on the hospital premises.
Kannaki intervened to stop the clash, during which a youth identified as Karuppu Raja allegedly pushed her with force.
The officer fell backwards and suffered serious head injuries. She was immediately taken for emergency treatment but died after failing to respond to treatment.
Following the incident, Ramanathapuram district Superintendent of Police G Chandeesh and Paramakudi Deputy Superintendent of Police Sugumaran visited the hospital and conducted an inquiry.
Police have launched a search for Karuppu Raja, who fled the scene after the incident, and efforts are underway to arrest him. (with inputs from PTI)
