Indian Army spearheads Assam flood rescue operations

In a swift and coordinated humanitarian effort, the Indian Army has stepped in to mitigate the crisis arising out of the worsening flood situation in Assam. Troops of the Spear Head Division, operating under the Spear Corps, actively joined hands with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the civil administration to launch extensive rescue operations in the deluge-hit Arun Chapori area of Dhemaji district.
The region has been reeling under severe inundation triggered by incessant rainfall and rapidly rising water levels.
Responding immediately to the escalating crisis, Army personnel mobilised resources to support the ongoing local relief efforts.
Despite braving treacherous weather conditions and highly challenging terrain, the joint rescue teams successfully located and evacuated 27 stranded civilians from heavily flooded pockets, moving them to safer, designated relief locations.
“The operation showcased a high level of preparedness, discipline, and dedication by the Indian Army in extending timely assistance to the civil populace during natural calamities,” an official release stated. Working shoulder to shoulder with civilian authorities, the troops ensured that the affected citizens received immediate relief and were extricated from danger zones in an efficient manner.
