Barefoot Marathon Runner Honoured in Beed for Funding Daughters’ Education
A woman who ran a marathon barefoot to fund the education of her two daughters was honoured on Friday by Beed Collector Vivek Johnson, who also announced financial assistance of Rs 50,000.
Ramabai Ranveer had won the Amrut-2 Marathon organised by Bharatiya Shikshan Prasarak Mandal in Ambajogai on August 29.
Faced with financial hardship and the responsibility of paying her daughters' educational fees, she took part in the marathon barefoot, determined to secure a better future for her children, an official said.
Recognising her extraordinary determination, the Beed district administration felicitated her at a programme held at the District Planning Hall at the Collector's Office, he added.
"Ramabai's achievement is not merely a victory in a marathon but a triumph of a mother's love, sacrifice, struggle and determination to secure a brighter future for her daughters. Ramabai is a living example of how far a mother can go and how much she can endure for the future of her daughters," Johnson said.
The financial assistance of Rs 50000 was mobilised through an initiative led by Resident Deputy Collector Shivkumar Swami.
An overjoyed Ramabai said the timely support from the district administration would go a long way in easing the financial burden of her daughters' education.
