CM meets PM Modi discusses flood recovery and development agenda

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Sewa Teerth in South Block and discussed the State's ongoing flood recovery efforts, reconstruction plans and broader development priorities.
During the meeting, Sarma briefed the Prime Minister on Assam's roadmap for the next phase of the flood response, with a focus on rebuilding damaged areas, restoring livelihoods and ensuring comprehensive rehabilitation of people affected by the devastating floods.
In a post on X after the meeting, Sarma said Modi had remained in close touch throughout the flood crisis, regularly reviewing the situation and extending assistance to the State.
Sarma said the Prime Minister reaffirmed the Centre's continued support for Assam's recovery efforts and assured that the Government of India would stand with the State until the rehabilitation and reconstruction mission reaches its logical conclusion.
The Chief Minister also apprised Modi of key initiatives undertaken by the Assam Government during its first 100 days in office to fulfil the mandate given by the people of the State.
The discussions also covered Assam's wider development agenda, including accelerating economic growth, strengthening infrastructure, improving public service delivery and creating greater opportunities for the people.
Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister, Sarma said his continued guidance and commitment would help advance the shared vision of a "Viksit Assam". The meeting underscored the close coordination between the Centre and the Assam Government on flood management, rehabilitation and the State's long-term development priorities.
Sarma reiterated that his Government would continue to work closely with the Centre to ensure effective reconstruction in flood-affected areas while pursuing Assam's broader development goals.
