Cloudburst triggers flash floods in Pahalgam, hotels and homes flooded

A cloudburst triggered flash floods in parts of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, inundating several hotels, homes and nearby areas after a stream overflowed following intense rainfall.
Officials said the sudden weather event affected local infrastructure and disrupted normal life, prompting emergency response teams to begin relief and assessment operations. There were no immediate reports of casualties or injuries, according to officials.
The heavy rainfall, believed to have originated in the forest areas of Awoora and Dehwathu, caused water levels to rise rapidly, leading to flooding in nearby settlements. Authorities, including the district administration and disaster response teams, were deployed to assist residents and tourists, clear debris and monitor the affected areas. Road connectivity, electricity and water supply were also impacted in some locations.

Officials are continuing to assess the extent of the damage while urging people to remain cautious as the region experiences unstable weather conditions. The administration has advised residents and visitors to follow official updates and avoid flood-prone areas until conditions improve.
