Present era belongs to youth: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that the youth are the future of a developed India and the present era belongs to them. These remarks came for the first time against the backdrop of the current spate of protests in some parts of the country, including the national Capital.
Making these assertions, Modi said, “This is your time and your opportunity,” adding that he sees the nation’s future directly reflected in them.
Emphasising that the global community is actively searching for innovative answers, the Prime Minister told the young minds that the present era belonged to them, as the world looked to them for solutions.
Addressing students during the golden jubilee celebrations of Jaigopal Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya here, he delivered an inspiring talk centred on youth empowerment, national unity, and the timeless wisdom of Tamil heritage.
He expressed confidence that India’s youth have the talent and potential to provide solutions to the challenges and stressed that the youth will play a crucial role in realising the vision of a Viksit Bharat, or a developed India. He said, ‘India offers immense opportunities for young people,’ and urged them to realise their potential and contribute to the nation’s development.
He asserted that the innovative ideas and solutions developed by young people would shape not only India’s future but also the future of the world. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the country could achieve its aspirations through collective efforts.
The Prime Minister’s message to the youth came on a day when the Cockroach Janta Party vowed to intensify its agitation against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, even as around 200 people were detained during protests at several places in the New Delhi area, which remained under a security chokehold.
Moreover, the Supreme Court on Sunday directed authorities not to illegally detain people gathering peacefully and asked them to ensure the Delhi Metro functions normally and that internet services are not disrupted, subject to law and order conditions.
In a special sitting, a bench of Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana also issued a notice to the Centre while hearing a plea seeking contempt proceedings for the alleged violation of the court’s direction to ensure that there is no “complete prohibition” on metro and train services in Delhi due to the CJP protest.
Earlier in the day, CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were released on the condition that they would not “breach peace” for a year.
Modi’s latest remarks, seen as an outreach to the young, suggest the ongoing protests and demonstrations are unlikely to abate in the coming days.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, the Prime Minister laid foundation stones, inaugurated, and dedicated multiple development projects worth more than Rs 13,000 crore to the nation in Chennai. The projects aim to improve connectivity, strengthen industrial growth, and create employment opportunities across Tamil Nadu.
