CID arrests two more in JPSC, JSSC-CGL irregularities cases
The Jharkhand Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Monday arrested two more accused in separate cases related to alleged irregularities and malpractice in the JPSC and JSSC-CGL examinations. Both were produced before court and sent to judicial custody.
In connection with JPSC case number 16/2026, the CID arrested Sanjeet Kumar, an accused not named in the original FIR, from his residence on Ratu Road in Ranchi. Sanjeet is the operator of Shivangan Coaching, also known as Shivangan Ki Pathshala, in Ranchi and has been identified by investigators as an alleged agent in the case.
The CID had earlier conducted raids in August at Shivangan Ki Pathshala in Lalpur and at Sanjeet’s residence, during which documents and other evidence were collected.
Investigators have been examining the alleged role of coaching centres and intermediaries in facilitating unfair advantages for candidates, including alleged manipulation of OMR sheets and arrangements to help candidates clear examinations.
In a separate case linked to the JSSC-CGL examination, the CID arrested Dilip Kumar Paswan from Paschim Bardhaman in West Bengal. A native of Jamui district in Bihar, Paswan is accused of allegedly providing undue and illegal assistance to several JSSC-CGL candidates during the examination.
The arrests are part of a wider CID investigation into alleged malpractice in competitive examinations that has been underway since July. The agency is probing allegations involving paper leaks, OMR manipulation, bribery-based arrangements and the alleged role of private agency TDPL in the JPSC, particularly the 14th Civil Services Examination, and JSSC-CGL cases.
Several people, including a former JPSC chairman, officials, alleged agents, successful candidates and coaching operators, have already been arrested in connection with the investigations.
The CID is continuing its probe and is examining candidates, digital evidence and financial transactions to identify other people who may have been involved in the alleged examination racket.
