Ahmedabad sets world record by planting 3.61 lakh saplings in one hour

Ahmedabad has created a new environmental milestone by planting 3.61 lakh saplings in just one hour, setting a Guinness World Record through a massive plantation drive aimed at expanding green cover and promoting sustainability.
The record-breaking initiative was carried out by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) using the Miyawaki plantation method at Bhadaj locality. More than 25,000 volunteers participated in the drive, which covered a large plantation area near the Gota-Godhavi Canal.
The plantation campaign featured around 35 indigenous plant species and was organised as part of a larger environmental conservation effort to improve urban greenery and create sustainable ecosystems.
The initiative is linked with a broader green drive focused on increasing tree cover across the region. Officials said such large-scale plantation efforts will help enhance biodiversity, reduce environmental impact and encourage greater public participation in climate action.
With this achievement, Ahmedabad has joined the list of Indian cities setting global benchmarks in urban plantation and ecological conservation efforts.
