Art as a Language of Love

The 10th edition of Vividh Mat: Perspectives, presented by Devyani Jaipuria in collaboration with ASAVARI, focused on the theme Shringara: Rang Anurang. This edition explored Shringara, a concept that embodies love, beauty and the depth of the human experience.

The event began with an engaging discussion led by Padmashri Shovana Narayan, SNA awardee and Ambassador Dr Suresh Goel, former DG of ICCR. The panel also included Jatin Das, the renowned artist and sculptor, celebrated poet Sudeep Sen and actor-director Sohaila Kapur. Together, they shared their insights into Shringara, highlighting it as more than just an aesthetic concept, but an essential part of life.

Jatin Das explained that Shringara is not only about visual beauty but is also the very pulse of life. He described it as a delicate balance between form and emotion, where art touches the soul. Sudeep Sen further elaborated by describing Shringara as “the poetry of the senses,” a celebration that speaks directly to the heart, connecting art, love and life. He emphasised how Shringara invites us to reflect on the deepest layers of the human soul.

Sohaila Kapur added to the discussion by describing Shringara as a means of capturing the essence of beauty through performance. She noted that it is the emotional core of art, brought to life through movement, offering an experience that connects the audience directly to the emotions conveyed. The conversation highlighted how Shringara is not only a visual or emotional experience but also a spiritual one, bridging cultural and philosophical perspectives.

Shovana Narayan, deeply connected to classical Indian dance, shared her personal view of Shringara, describing it as a language that speaks directly to the heart. For her, the evening was a celebration of beauty; it was the culmination of years of dedication, creating a space where everyone could to the rhythm of life.

The event concluded with a Baithaki Bhaav dance performance by Madhura Phatak. The classical dance embodied Shringara beautifully, giving the audience an immersive experience.

Vividh Mat: Perspectives combined intellectual discussion and artistic expression, highlighting how art connects us to humanity, bridging cultures and emotions.
