An incident involving teachers at Utkramit Middle School, Belpahari, in the Bhawnathpur block, has come to the attention of District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Jamuar. The case concerns allegations that teachers Baban Singh and Dhirendra Pal instructed a class 2 student to massage their heads and legs after school hours, around 2:30 PM.
Following the report, the Deputy Commissioner ordered an inquiry by the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Bhawnathpur. During the investigation, Dhirendra Pal was on emergency leave, while Baban Singh was absent. Enquiries with the acting headmaster, Akhlaq Ansari, other teachers, and students revealed that both teachers allegedly frequently attended school under the influence of alcohol and displayed a lack of interest in teaching. It was also reported that some students were often seen wandering outside the school during lesson times. The acting headmaster, Akhlaq Ansari, was implicated for allegedly showing no interest in managing the school or engaging with students in the classroom.
Upon receiving the investigation report from the BDO, Bhawnathpur, Deputy Commissioner instructed District Education Superintendent Anurag Minj to issue show-cause notices to all implicated teachers. Consequently, the District Education Superintendent of Garhwa asked explanations from Dhirendra Pal (Assistant Teacher), Baban Singh (Assistant Teacher), and Akhlaq Ansari (Acting Headmaster) of Rajkiya Utkramit Middle School, Belpahari, by 29th March, following the notices issued on 26th March. To date, no responses have been received.
The Deputy Commissioner has taken decisive action against the three teachers. The process to terminate Assistant Teacher Dhirendra Pal has commenced. Assistant Teacher Baban Singh has been immediately suspended, with his headquarters designated at the office of the Block Education Extension Officer in Majhiaon. Singh will receive a subsistence allowance during this period. Disciplinary proceedings, including the drafting of a charge sheet, have been initiated against the acting headmaster, Akhlaq Ansari.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that the district administration will not tolerate irregularities at any level and will take strict action against those found guilty.
