The Anil Agarwal Foundation’s flagship initiative, Nand Ghar, has reached a major milestone by transforming 8,044 Anganwadis into modern centres for early childhood care and women’s empowerment across 15 states. With a vision to uplift rural India, the initiative has already impacted over 3.2 lakh children and 2.4 lakh women, offering smart education, nutrition, healthcare, and skill development.
Looking ahead, the Foundation plans to establish 20,000 new Nand Ghars in Rajasthan, aiming to touch the lives of 2 million people in the state.
Nand Ghars are equipped with smart TVs, e-learning modules, child-friendly infrastructure, and regular healthcare services. The centres also empower rural women by offering income-generating skill programs.
In 2024, Nand Ghar launched protein-rich millet shakes in six states, aligning with India’s millet mission. The year also marked the launch of Maharashtra’s first 25 centres in Thane.
Speaking on the milestone, Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Chairperson of Hindustan Zinc Ltd., called Nand Ghar a "nationwide movement creating real change." Shashi Arora, CEO of Nand Ghar, emphasized the project’s commitment to holistic, measurable community development. Ravish Sharma, Deputy CEO of ESL Steel Ltd., praised the program’s growing footprint in Jharkhand.
A local beneficiary, Anjali Badyakar, shared, “The Nand Ghar is more than a centre—it’s hope for women like us.”
As India celebrates 50 years of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Nand Ghar continues to set new benchmarks in early childhood development and women’s empowerment.
